Riad Bayti Marrakech

At the beginning of the XIXth century, Riad Bayti belonged to the Hazan family,a rich Jewish family from Marrakech. Jacob Hazan, an influential man, made sure that the architecture and decor of his house was in keeping with the importance of the visitors he used to receive.
Now fully restored throughout, all the splendid architectural features of this Marrakesh guesthouse have been carefully preserved and emphasised by the decor – a blend of tradition and modernity. This charming riad in Marrakesh invites you to travel back in time to sample the traditional Marrakesh lifestyle while enjoying modern levels of comfort and the cooling off in the small swimming pool.

Before reaching the understated front door of Riad Bayti, travellers s in search of Marrakesh mysteries have to immerse themselves in the hustle and bustle of the Mellah - one of the few districts of the Old City that still possesses some soul. It was for a long time the Jewish quarter of Marrakesh, progressively becoming a working class area with one of the oldest wholesale markets at its centre.
Paradoxically, this transition has helped to preserve some of the most beautiful dwellings in the Mellah from the ravages of property developers and the area is now being revitalised as they are refurbished and converted into enchanting guesthouses – and Riad Bayti is a case in point.

All the rooms in Riad Bayti are individually decorated in styles in keeping with their architectural features and in the purest and most authentic Marrakesh style. The rooms are light-filled and colourful, all fitted with individual air-conditioning and heating, a sitting area and a private bathroom with bath-robes and bath towels.

With its magnificent nineteenth-century painted cedarwood ceiling, the spacious Wahd suite is an invitation to dream. The decor is a harmonious blend of Riad Bayti’s history and a restrained, contemporary style. This first-floor room, adjacent to the Jouj room, has a large double bed, a small sitting room, a bathroom with bath-tub and walls with a tadelakt finish.

This Marrakesh riad has two more suites, also on the first floor and each offering a double bed, a bathroom with bath-tub and air conditioning. Two extra single beds can be added on request.
